@ben This Zlib is chunky
@violet zlib is a streaming compression algorithm

@ben I know :3. Though, really, it's DEFLATE that's the algorithm and ZLib that's the defacto spec.
@violet zlib is an algorithm that uses deflate with some metadata
chunky zlib is an algorithm that uses zlib with some metadata
@violet I remember trying to figure out how to do this and the people were like "are you absolutely sure you don't mean deflate" and I was like "why do you expect Dwarf Fortress to suddenly make sense"
Just stop reading after the first paragraph, since that's where it stops making sense
@ben I mean, I think I know what that extra metadata might be, it sounds like it's probably chunk-addressing so that you can just skip reading the bits that don't matter.
If it really doesn't make sense, then it'd be something that was born of Tarn maybe not having a great sense of how ZLib might be made to work, but I know he's a very smart man. So that means that where it fails to make sense, it's a hilariously complicated place to fail to make sense... Idk, you know way more than me friend.
