DANG a Washington State supreme court ruling just struck down the law defining felony charges for simple drug possession.

Which, in effect, means drug possession has just been decriminalized here. (Excepting other laws, like "intent to distribute" etc.)

I think the law being struck down as unconstitutional will mean that existing convictions based on it will also be overturned.

The state legislature could, of course, pass a new more narrowly-defined law recriminalizing possession.

Apparently the democratic majority was already considering moving for possession decriminalization, though?
