@starkatt yeah.. the individual heroism stories in aggregate definitely contribute to a broad sense of "oh I'll never be that strong/brave/clever" and instill a sense of hopelessness/inadequacy, discouraging people from doing helpful things at all

@lifning Or making us feel completely inadequate, even when we are meaningfully helping.

@starkatt A society too obsessed with heroes that we refuse to prevent tragedies.
