amusing watching the gamedev industry try to pull a “the future is building things out of reusable components” when the software industry already tried this and failed

hard truth is it’s faster to just model a rock than to pick the best rock out of a catalog of 10,000+ rocks. that’s not to say that reusable assets won’t be very useful, but it is far from a silver bullet

@sol this also only works if you also believe the future is always going to be photorealistic games and that no game should ever try to have a style of any kind.
