#introductions Hullo out there! I'm Scarlet (scarly for short) and I'm your friendly nieghborhood black enby burnout. I subsist on a daily diet of #Python, various forms of horror, and a shocking number of board games.
My pronouns and pronoun accessories are in my profile. Other than that, I'm fairly unapologetically black, so if you're triggered by non-whiteness... Then, check yourself, since the future is diversity and inclusion and I will absolutely not be silenced.
Technology has been a friend for me, even when I haven't had many others. I don't work in the industry at all, but I have experience in a fairly wide array of programming languages, operating systems, etc - and sometimes I do end up posting about nerdy things and stuff. It's something I do for fun, however, so don't expect serious diatribes on functional programming or anything of the sort (jk - sometimes, things just slip out).
I'm currently trying to get back into things again after a looooong hiatus following some fairly serious health issues, and so if I seem like I'm a bit skittish, it's not to be taken personally. It has been a *very* interesting last year and a half for me and I hope for a substantially less interesting (and more pleasant) future with perhaps more friends?
So. Yes. Hellooooo! <3
mh, negative
Life sucks and I'm depressed. On top of that, or maybe even because of that, I don't seem to know how to socialize right now.
I'm in this kind of weird space where it's like, "The good news is that we've cured your manic depression. The bad news is now you're just depressed."
And, I'm like, "Gee thanks!"
At the core of the issue, though, there's some pretty large structural things that took bits out of me and others that aren't high on the privilege food chain this year. Things that are happening at the national level can become intensely personal when they influence how people around you behave.
Forums really had a lot of flaws as a format, but they were great for making certain content last longer than the seconds that it takes for something to fall off a front page. Twitter-like formats make all content ephemeral, and I feel like that just makes it more challenging for non-prolific writers to speak up and contribute any kind of meaningful discourse.
I find myself casually *not* dual booting, feeling comfortably productive in linux, gaming in linux, and just forgetting about windows a few times
somehow, the "year of the linux desktop" actually went from being a pun to actually being real life at some point and i didn't even notice, it just happened so smoothly
I've finally managed to drag my waifu back to the fedi after entirely too long ;_;
say hi to @scarlet, they good peeps.
