I really don't like programming as a job anymore. I thought I would but I really don't, but now I am kind of stuck with this

vent

@praxis oh no :( I'm sorry you're stuck like that. hugs?

vent

@praxis oh no :(
Is it the programming itself, or the tasks at the company you work it?

re: vent

@uvok I honestly don't know. I like tinkering and making things work, and I have fun programming.

I think a big part of this is that everyone is doing javascript webapps and I have no choice in doing something interesting here x)

There is also a lot of anxiety for me associated with the startup culture I am in. I honestly don't know how to fix this, I just feel like I have no security, the work is unfulfilling and it stresses me out

re: vent

@uvok I guess add to that that I haven't formally learned anything. This entire environment I am in is all about the self-learning aspect. So I don't even know what I don't know and it's freaking me out

re: vent

@praxis
I guess you already heard the advice to maybe look for another job, but I know myself it's not that easy :/

re: vent

@uvok
I think I might be able to reach out to a few companies and ask for a tour of their offices + some insight in their workflow, but I know a lot of companies build on prior experience and what I do with webapps doesn't translate all that well into a different area
