@codl Things like this are why I like to redact by dropping a fully opaque rectangle over redactions, or use something that affects the color channel of the image.
Incidentally, this deleting-the-color-information and also resizing operations not taking the alpha channel into account when sampling from pixels of a pre-masked image, is why lots of crap web art has a white fringe around the edges. Not to be confused with the old MSPaint flood fill an anti-aliased line object, but similar result. This is why one of Photoshop's splash screens, the one with the feathers, had white fringe. Same for Nintendo's Christmas Yoshi email art, for shame.
The only alternative to alpha weighted sampling is to simply keep the color information intact in the fully transparent pixels of the image until you flatten and export a final copy.
