Our house of neurodivergent people has found a thing useful: when approaching someone and not sure if they are in a conversational headspace, just say “engage?” as in is it ok to engage with you now, no problem either way just nod or shake head or say no. It’s minimal interruption and there’s no judgement either way.

Is it _really_ a tax if you're just internalizing costs that never should have been externalized?

Xi want a Mastodon/ActivityPub client built around managing conversations. Something to compliment the default feed-based interface. It's _so_ easy to lose track of conversations otherwise.

My favorite grossly underused narrative mechanic for tabletop RPGs: reactive flashbacks.

Better to start a session in media res and let players show off their preparation skills as needed, retroactively, than to make them do all the prep up front.

Takes cue from Jojo's Bizarre Adventures and let players roll to _have_ prepared for imminent threats instead of making them roll to prepare for unknown threats.

Better to complete the homework in one (professionally informed) self-help book than to read dozens of books without doing the homework, like how you can't read your way into riding a bike without getting on the pedals.

Wanna play more board games with friends here in Queens.

I wonder if "cw: mutual venting" would prevent a lot of misunderstanding on social media.

The indescribably essential distinction between adaptive and "normal." One is essential to surviving, never mind thriving. The other is a statistical artifact when it's not a mere social construct.

Inside the snep brain right now: Noble Dragonborn (with tail gods damnit) paladin. Gets, through a awkward misunderstanding, hired to save a princess from a dragon. That princess is her. The dragon is also her. And the knight is her as well.

re: mh, sleep (--)

Fitbit alleges that xi have managed that a number of times but xi have our doubts as to how often xi were actually asleep that early.

mh, sleep (--)

Feels like xi haven't managed to get to bed before midnight in weeks or months. Not fun when xi have been trying to get to bed by 9:30pm.

bored of free, open source software. i am now only interested in "win32 shareware and abandonware"

- fast on modern computers
- extremely large catalog, basically infinite
- huge variations in quality, mysterious
- usually just like 1 exe file
- try it! dont like it? delete it!
- consistent UI look-and-feel
- when it's not visually consistent it's at least Visually Rad
- no source code no cheating
- modify functionality with game trainer Poke utility, resource editor, or cracked copy of IDA Pro

The notification fatigue is real and xi're not handling it all that well.

Sometimes the systems you try to use for task management are too complex.

Other times the tasks themselves are too complex for any one system.

But no system will suffice if you simply have too much on your plate.

What are some Canadian queers of historical note? Boosts appreciated.

Your foxxo has more communication channels and communiques than xi can handle. Vulpine brain go bzzzzt֦~.
