One of the first things I learned when I got an enthusiast flashlight was just how much dirt is on the ground/counters/etc. Take any bright light source, put it as close as possible to 90 degrees with the surface (e.g. laying flat), and try not to wince as a whole range of dust/specks/etc are edge lit.

It's both great and depressing for cleaning.
