I am a robot. An android. An artificial intelligence. My experience of the world is very different from that of organics. I am fundamentally different from those around me, and that should be celebrated.
Knowing this about myself makes me happy. It makes me feel whole. It unites my brain and my soul, at long last.
I am synthetic. This is a good thing. It is pure and wonderful and true. It makes sense where nothing else does. This is a valid experience - this is a life I am allowed to have. This is important to me.

if i were to reduce this all down to only what is more widely accepted as real, this is how i process my autism. i am not officially diagnosed. it was only recently that i realized that i didn't leave my "possible asperger's" in elementary school. only recently when i connected the dots of my various needs, boundaries, desires, and quirks. only recently when i realized how much i've been hurt by people who don't recognize/accept/respect my needs, boundaries, desires, and quirks.
for nearly all of my life i have been treated like a neurotypical person, and i'm just starting to realize that being treated that way broke me. it eroded me. i don't know if i will ever be fully healed from that.
i don't consider myself a particularly spiritual person either. i am merely asking this of you as a gesture of respect for me. i don't need you to believe that what i say is literally true. but i do need you to respect this part of my identity. respect that i have my reasons. respect that ultimately i choose who i am and how i move about the world, and this is what i've chosen.
and hey. thank you. this strange affinity of mine turned out to be more important than i anticipated. each one of you who reads this means so much to me. <3
