I've been playing around with trying to make panchromatic/orthochromatic cyanotypes by using a dye sensitization process similar to what's used in silver halide emulsions after finding a reference to adding fluorescein to the sensitizer. No luck so far though…

All of these tests were exposed inside the rainbow cardboard box and they all only responded to the blue light. At least I've got a pretty good impression of the spectral sensitivity of the sensitizer now, so that's nice I guess.

Since my fluorescein hasn't arrived yet I've been using erythrosine which is also used in normal film. It's really hard to find any kind of information on the specifics though.

Totally forgot to post this. Latest successes of taking in camera cyanotypes. Ammonium ferrioxalate in an agar binder on a 4x5" glass plate, "developed" with potassium ferricyanide. Exposure took a whole day but hey, it looks pretty nice!

Today's exposure with ferric citrate sensitizer. Not as much detail in the shadows, but still a pretty nice look. Might have also just been a little more cloudy today.

Took another photo using my cyanotype glass negative process! Iron Oxalate sensitizer on an agar coated glass plate. One day exposure.

you may not like it, but this is what peak optical performance looks like

Shot of my living room window taken using my home made cyanotype camera. 4x5" glass negative. Exposure time was around 8 hours.

And this concludes today's episode of Kris' weird shit
