ended up giving up and moving to gnome
and it's actually kind of okay, if you use the material shell
@KitRedgrave I couldn't fix xfce4 after an update, so I just recently switched to MATE. It kind of reminds me of using Ubuntu in 2009.
@KitRedgrave that’s what i hear from those using it these days
yeah ok this is actually pretty workable
