I'm departing vulpine.club.

If you have beefs with not using ableist slurs ("st*pid", "cr*zy") I recommend not following.

If you've had issues with me discussing racism in terms that distinguish between black folks and white folks, also don't follow.

If you have issues with creators using Patreon, *definitely* don't follow me.

I will use two instances from now on:

Mastodon.art - mastodon.art/@AvaJarvisArt

Kitty.town - kitty.town/@AvaJarvisArt

Peace out, folks.

Neoliberalism teaches us that what matters are individual acts. So, when we learn about Rosa Parks, we learn of one woman's spontaneous activism, not that she went to activist training and learned that a strategy existed that needed an unmarried black woman of her age and that people had been working towards the bus boycott & lawsuit for years.

Movements are devalued because they work. We are trained to see ourselves as consumer markets and individuals because that works for owners, not for us.

This educational focus on individual heroism teaches people to dream of being the star, and not to do the difficult, often boring work of building a movement. The people who set up the phone trees, who organised carpooling, who made the coffee for everyone planning stuff. Those people are essential and their work is invisibilised as we're taught only the prominent people matter.

One newt moot down, four to go! Almost done. They're getting scanned tomorrow, but I'm unsure when they'll be online proper.

Gods it is hot. This house gets hot, there is no AC. I have a wet towel on my head and a huge fan and a tiny fan and it's helping.

But I need to check out of all social media for a while. I love y'all but things are kinda terrible and I need to lie down.

RPG stuff has simmered down for the nonce for me. I can't keep doing it in the heat so I am just chilling.

It's awesome to have the option to have unlisted and followers only toot options as well as the usual public toot. I feel safer, especially if I need to vent about something.

I know this isn't absolutely secure but there's a huge difference between me nursing my drink in the corner muttering to myself, and dancing on tables screaming it.

Which is what twitter always is, unless you completely lock your account.

Hi wise @kellerfuchs ! Guess what's the first drawing I made in my new sketchbook :)

I listed out some Instagram accounts I follow that make Instagram fun and exciting for me. Non-white (and I think one East European) artists heavily featured.

If you find this list useful, consider tipping me on Ko-Fi. (ko-fi.com/avajarvisart)

Oh! ICYMI (or i forgot to toot it) I wrote a post about working with a duotone palette, and limited palettes in general.

I put my art blog posts behind a temporary paywall of $1 on my Patreon, and will keep my link posts here on Mastodon limited to the posts no longer behind a paywall.

g'night for reals now

This is a weird lil' piece, harkening to my love of Escher and Magritte and all other folks who loved to play with the illusions in art

A reason I love ink is that it's easier to f with people's sense of the real, because an ink mark can be interpreted any number of ways—though the trick is intending & communicating that properly
